All you need is an iron/metal basket, some mason jars and flowers. Arrange the flowers separately in each jar and voila! You got yourself a beautiful flower arrangement for your home or garden :)</div>

</div><div style="text-align: center;">Bored of the old scrambled eggs, pancakes, toast and coffee? Well, me neither, but, how about trying something different? </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">I came across a recipe online for these very cute, gourmet looking "breakfast toast cups"that included bacon, toast, cheese and eggs. I thought they probably would require a lot of work and skills, but after more carefully reading the recipe, I realized it wasn't hard at all! So one Saturday morning I decided to give it try...and they turned out perfect! Not only that, hubby LOVED it! </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">And then it hit me, why don't more people know about this? It's so easy and yet such a fun, creative breakfast, especially if you are having guests over. Well my dear readers, I decided I would share the love with you, but not only that, I will share the "skinny" breakfast cup version! HOWEVER, if you are not interested in watching your weight, just use real bacon and white bread and you will be fine :)</div><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">So here you go:</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><u><b>Breakfast Cups (Skinny Version)</b></u></div><u><br />

</u><br />
<br />
<i>Ingredients (per cup): </i><br />
<ul><li><i>1 tsp Butter</i></li>
<li><i>1 slice of Whole Grain Bread</i></li>
<li><i>1 or 2 slices Turkey Bacon</i></li>
<li><i>1 Egg</i></li>
<li><i>Salt</i></li>
<li><i>Pepper</i></li>
<li><i>Parsley (optional)</i></li>
<li><i>1 Tbp of Reduced fat Cheddar Shredded cheese</i></li>
</ul><i>Directions: </i><br />
<br />
<i>1 - Pre-heat oven to 400 degrees</i><br />
<i>2 - Cut edges of bread slices only leaving the soft part</i><br />
<i>3 - Lightly butter ramekins and press bread onto the bottom and sides, forming a cup ( the original recipe actually cut a circle on the bread slice by using a cookie cutter, but I didn't think that was necessary unless you really want a perfect cup ). Add shredded cheese to the bottom.</i><br />
<i>4 - Cook bacon slices half way on a skillet until they are golden, but still pliable (about 3 - 5 minutes). Shape bacons in a circle inside ramekins edges. </i><br />
<i>5 - Place cups in the oven for 5 minutes so that the bacon can cook a bit more (see step 7 if you don't like your bacon very crispy)</i><br />
<i>6 - After 5 minutes, remove them from the oven and crack the eggs inside the cups. Then add salt, pepper to taste and garnish with parsley. </i><br />
<i>7 - Places ramekins back in the oven for 10 -15 minutes depending how soft you want the yolk to be. I left mine for 15 minutes since I don't like my yolk very runny. Also, I like the bacon on the crispier side, but if you like your bacon not so crisp, but your yolk harder, you will need to cook your bacon for less time (step 5).</i><br />
<i>8 - Remove ramekins from oven and let it cool for 3 minutes, then use a fork or knife and remove the cups from ramekins and place them on a plate. They will slide right out!</i><br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">And that's it! In less than 30 minutes you will have made a breakfast that looks like it came straight from a fancy french restaurant. So easy!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Now, if you are a visual person, I took some pictures while making them for you guys.<br />

I have been dedicating my creative juices to another form of art other than interior design and blogging, I have actually been "Instagraming". This week I reached 400 followers on my profile Allthingswhimsical and I'm so excited that I get to share my photography passion with so many people! If you have Instagram on your Iphone, make sure to check out my pictures. If you do not have Instagram, make sure you download it and try it out. You will be addicted, and it is free! Now, if you do not have an Iphone and still wants to check out pictures on Instagram, you definitely can through the website <a href="http://copygr.am/">http://copygr.am/</a> . There you will be able to follow users, like pictures and comment on them. Here is a sneak peak at my feed: </div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDpO75U7Hf3M98Y5Hmzp5eH8neEEK2bUY6yydvLLkuEok9aprrLpfhBMBIB72AYVTPfd48yM24hFuOoLTnE5PxvyXLa-88KX-pBpoiCHw4nMDWPpgD5A2e8z9uJKb0nq0AyYRYzi-CiN4/s1600/instagram.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="634" rea="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDpO75U7Hf3M98Y5Hmzp5eH8neEEK2bUY6yydvLLkuEok9aprrLpfhBMBIB72AYVTPfd48yM24hFuOoLTnE5PxvyXLa-88KX-pBpoiCHw4nMDWPpgD5A2e8z9uJKb0nq0AyYRYzi-CiN4/s640/instagram.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">As you can seen, I am very dedicated to the "Earlybird" filter and I use that same filter on all my pictures. There are other cool filters you can use there as well. There also many other web based applications to give the cool effects to your pictures smiliar to the ones in Instagram. Here is an <a href="http://thenextweb.com/apps/2011/08/07/8-web-based-alternatives-to-instagram/">article</a> from <a href="http://www.thenextweb.com/">TNW</a> with 8 web based alternatives to Instagram, such as <a href="http://picplz.com/">PicPlz</a>, <a href="http://thenextweb.com/apps/2011/05/24/get-that-toy-camera-magic-on-your-computer-with-pixlr-o-matic/">Pixlr-o-Matic</a> and <a href="http://www.picnik.com/">Picnik</a>, that gives a full insight into each one of them.</div><br />

</div><div style="text-align: center;">If you love photography as well as design, you should know this: You can get most of your design inspiration from your photographs. Our eye is naturally drawn to harmonious color combinations but we don't realize it. When we take or see breathtaking pictures we tend to think of it as having the objects, people or nature set up in the perfect way, but we seldom pay attention to the actual color harmony present in the photograph. This is a great way of coming up with color combinations ideas for weddings, wed design, interior design, or anything you are thinking about creating. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">I decided to look at some of the photos I've taken in the past and make a swatch using the colors in the photographs using the eyedropper in Photoshop. I also added the context in which these colors would be perfect. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">You can do the same using your own photographs or other photographs online. And maybe even search for photos related to the feeling you are trying to achieve. For instance, if you want colors for a fall wedding, try looking for autumn photos; if you are looking for colors for your bedroom and you want it to be relaxing, how about looking for pictures of waterfalls or clouds? You get the idea :)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

And what better than bringing spring into your home with an arrangement of Wheatgrass?</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">A lot of people grow wheatgrass for juicing because they believe it detoxifies the body and is good for you. It probably is, but that is not the reason I grew mine. I grew mine because I wanted a pretty centerpiece for my dining room table. I wish I had tried this before my wedding, because it is so cheap and easy!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">This is a picture of the wheatgrass I planted 7 days ago. Yep, only SEVEN days ago! Not to mention I have trimmed some of the top to make them look a bit more even. Isn't this crazy??</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhF-toeWnUt8POFuS2BzORJLp6j8aehPdCILD54dDIqBVaEKpgH1Fzfwz2XXVSbaRAGyHEACxb9eNnuRawdhyqe6S80vsC34iuSO-HS7LfirpG4GyATQprYMZbo5EwhY69agTTD2I0CMlc/s1600/grass1.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhF-toeWnUt8POFuS2BzORJLp6j8aehPdCILD54dDIqBVaEKpgH1Fzfwz2XXVSbaRAGyHEACxb9eNnuRawdhyqe6S80vsC34iuSO-HS7LfirpG4GyATQprYMZbo5EwhY69agTTD2I0CMlc/s400/grass1.gif" width="396" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I got the vase for a little over $3 at Michaels as they were 60% off. I got two of them. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I got the potting soil at Home Depot for about $3.50. I used Scotts Premium Potting Soil. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.homedepot.com/catalog/productImages/300/21/213d2e2d-a1ca-4f8b-8ff0-abf48ca17c86_300.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://www.homedepot.com/catalog/productImages/300/21/213d2e2d-a1ca-4f8b-8ff0-abf48ca17c86_300.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">And finally the Wheatgrass seeds. They say you can find them at any Health store, but I've never seen them at our local one, so I bought them at Amazon, <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Certified-Organic-Hard-Red-Wheat/dp/B000E7QYNG/ref=cm_cmu_pg__header">here</a>. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Once I had my potting soil, my vases and my seeds, I pretty much just added the potting soil to the vase (about 4 inches) and spread the seeds on top. I actually didn't spread as many seeds as they say you should online because I hadn't read any instructions online at that time, but as you can see it didn't turn out too bad. I then covered them with a thin layer of potting soil and watered them everyday keeping the soil moist. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">But for instructions sake, I decided to start another pot and take pictures to show you guys. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Step 1: </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Fill your vase with about 3 - 4 inches of Potting Soil </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnyl6jYsOt9XswIvQW3wJZe3VmRe8tymS_Z8I0Zu4hQzJF4xxdrVIxtKmeuWRWAYJvKiJ-ePMUydhBihJ8FvMabANHnw7xU3bkiOhQFgV4f1saP64m-j-GbO448_3yQ3HjXS1S9Pet8UQ/s1600/Untitled-2.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnyl6jYsOt9XswIvQW3wJZe3VmRe8tymS_Z8I0Zu4hQzJF4xxdrVIxtKmeuWRWAYJvKiJ-ePMUydhBihJ8FvMabANHnw7xU3bkiOhQFgV4f1saP64m-j-GbO448_3yQ3HjXS1S9Pet8UQ/s320/Untitled-2.gif" width="318" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Step 2: </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Add one layer of Wheatgrass seeds being careful not to layer them on top of each other too much. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDPmu_dK0GsGC8WBpID2Z8yoHhKtmXBhRoGiJzc-2wfR6c_TpdcWZACfk5tNZdJq8HJvVIWXAs23OJ3ydFMxKSp1jHprwSkkh0zgzX7vFFSkGfxTdcCOTToVzuQlsZR4mJ761-oA7-1t4/s1600/Untitled-3.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="318" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDPmu_dK0GsGC8WBpID2Z8yoHhKtmXBhRoGiJzc-2wfR6c_TpdcWZACfk5tNZdJq8HJvVIWXAs23OJ3ydFMxKSp1jHprwSkkh0zgzX7vFFSkGfxTdcCOTToVzuQlsZR4mJ761-oA7-1t4/s320/Untitled-3.gif" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Step 3: </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Add another thin layer of potting soil on top of your seeds and water them until the soil is moist but not damp. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Step 4: </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Keep the vase in a dark place and water the soil at least twice a day to ensure the soil is moist at all times. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">In about 48 hours your seeds will start to sprout and look like this: </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3dysubumq-XJCUSO4HacjMRjjDJL9s_6lOzK0cSYUPSVBN4GFU-j_2H-ORrCvYVJDm-9D3J1wBa7Rkpm7ZAlA1bFT1uyDZOkgEh8hWmXlWPuOWkyegKS1TMP5EcewNFEY51si2zGd__4/s1600/Untitled-4.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="318" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3dysubumq-XJCUSO4HacjMRjjDJL9s_6lOzK0cSYUPSVBN4GFU-j_2H-ORrCvYVJDm-9D3J1wBa7Rkpm7ZAlA1bFT1uyDZOkgEh8hWmXlWPuOWkyegKS1TMP5EcewNFEY51si2zGd__4/s320/Untitled-4.gif" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Once they are about 1 - 2 inches high, you can remove them from the dark and keep them in indirect sunlight. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">**Updated** In ONLY 4 days, they looked like this: </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgH8QkA-U_d6Lj4_jYWz_Uvl5j5jx7yD4Hgtb4esIF0NnEoaWP2Bxu-GSW5MF5lyqXwttc1rJqDObJhsSetSLTPdBMPTQH-A355GS0Ui_ih-kOpqeaI9B0Ju8kRc3xVy933XyuWPAHm9wc/s1600/IMG_4206.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="366" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgH8QkA-U_d6Lj4_jYWz_Uvl5j5jx7yD4Hgtb4esIF0NnEoaWP2Bxu-GSW5MF5lyqXwttc1rJqDObJhsSetSLTPdBMPTQH-A355GS0Ui_ih-kOpqeaI9B0Ju8kRc3xVy933XyuWPAHm9wc/s400/IMG_4206.gif" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">So yep, in less than 7 days you should have them high enough for centerpieces.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Here are some arrangements I've put together with my vases that are fully grown.. I don't know why but I really liked the look with the pop of orange from the clementines. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">And that is it my dears! Very easy to grow and cheap to make! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

So I decided to make one myself :)</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">First came the inspiration. I had seen a headboard I really liked at Pier 1 that had a french theme. That was perfect because our bedroom has a Paris theme going on that I want to keep. So that inspired me and helped me narrow down my fabric choices. So on Black Friday, I went to Joann.com and browsed through the fabrics online until I found this one with the french writing. I loved it and it was only $10.80 per yard! So I bought 4 yards.</div><div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7022/6483515655_2552416c2d_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7022/6483515655_2552416c2d_z.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Once I had the fabric, I went to Home Depot and bought the "bone" of the headboard. I got a custom cut 5 X3 plywood board for only $14.99. And I got to keep the scraps which turned out to be helpful (you will see why in a bit).</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7144/6483535177_013e8a6cc4_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="425" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7144/6483535177_013e8a6cc4_z.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">The hardest part was bringing it upstairs since DH wasn't home and I'm very inpatient when I want to get something done. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I also got foam from Joann that came to $15 per yard with a 50% off coupon. I only bought 2 yards because I already had some foam at home. I then layered the foam on top of the board and hot glue the back to the board just to ensure it stayed in place when I covered it with the fabric.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7024/6483536431_ac93b9ffb5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7024/6483536431_ac93b9ffb5.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I then upholstered the headboard using a staple gun. The fabric was also not wide enough to cover the whole board and I couldn't turn it around because of the pattern. So I hot glued (I know I probably should have stitched them but I was trying to get this done quickly) the two pieces of fabric together right in the middle, being careful to match the pattern on both sides. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">And after some pulling, adjusting and stapling, I got a headboard!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7010/6483537889_8a92c30ab4_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7010/6483537889_8a92c30ab4_z.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I achieved the curvy shape on top by leaving some extra foam over the board and then pulling the fabric tighter over the areas I wanted to curve. And as you see below, I nailed two pieces of plywood to each side to serve as the base. These are the scraps I was talking about earlier :)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">And then I just put the bed in front of it to secure it and that's it.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7160/6483546091_0154e24bf9_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7160/6483546091_0154e24bf9_z.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Since I had a lot of fabric leftover, I decided to re-upholster the bench at the end of our bed as well, and make it a matching set: </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7012/6483550071_df898975f1_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7012/6483550071_df898975f1_z.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">And Voila!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

Well, I hope so because this post is all about it!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">This year we got a new Christmas tree (which I love!) from Martha Stewart. I know, I know, it's not a real tree but like I said last year, it doesn't really make a difference for me since I did not grow up with real Christmas trees in Brazil anyway. So this is pretty darn good for me. I do want to have a real Christmas tree eventually, but maybe when we get a house with a bigger space... </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">So this is our living room with our new Christmas tree (I hate these couches by the way, but we will get new ones this coming year, hopefully!).</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7026/6444025177_61311a3d74_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="425" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7026/6444025177_61311a3d74_z.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">And this is our living room after it snowed in!!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7151/6444028371_94205f6c63.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7151/6444028371_94205f6c63.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Yep, I used fake snow on our tree this year <a href="http://prettyandcozy.blogspot.com/2010/12/oh-christmas-tree-oh-christmas-tree.html">again</a>! And the best thing is, I didn't have to buy a new bag. I saved all the fake snow I used last year in plastic bags and re-used again. I love this look! I don't know why more people don't do it. The fake snow is super cheap ( I bought mine at Target) and it's very easy to do!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7160/6444041091_a6bbbf5854_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7160/6444041091_a6bbbf5854_z.jpg" width="389" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">And THIS is my Star Tree Topper that I made this afternoon :) I didn't use the last one I made for my tutorial, because I didn't like the way the gold spray paint looked on it, so I made a new one and added some bling on it. If you want to know how to make it, you can see the full instructions in my tutorial <a href="http://prettyandcozy.blogspot.com/2011/11/diy-star-tree-topper-explained.html">here</a>. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7014/6444406295_fe411ce876_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7014/6444406295_fe411ce876_z.jpg" width="452" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">And this is the picture I took using the tips from <a href="http://www.augustteaphotography.com/blog/?p=1705">Augusttea Photography</a>. I love the way it makes the lights sparkle. I used my tripod and took it with a slow shutter speed of 15 seconds. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7033/6444264639_f692d482d0_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7033/6444264639_f692d482d0_z.jpg" width="402" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">She also give this tip on how to take this awesome picture of your tree out of focus. Looks awesome doesn't it?</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7164/6444351851_1d5b8d70b7_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7164/6444351851_1d5b8d70b7_z.jpg" width="426" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">If you are still looking for more Christmas ideas to awaken your Christmas spirit, you can also check out my board "<a href="http://pinterest.com/mrscnwalford/holiday-ideas/">Holiday Ideas</a>" on Pinterest. It's full of cute ideas I find in there, specially if you are into crafts and DIY. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Only 22 days til Christmas!!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

Today I will show you my favorite candles for winter season as well as the Holidays, which are currently burning (quite literally) in my apartment. </span></div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit;"><br />
</span><br />
<b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit;">1. Sparkling Snow by Yankee Candle</span></b><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit;"><br />
</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm7.staticflickr.com/6231/6431389587_a960598af0_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://farm7.staticflickr.com/6231/6431389587_a960598af0_z.jpg" width="448" /></span></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit;"><br />
</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit;">I love the scent of this candle. It is that "Just Out of the Shower" kind of smell, very fresh and citric. Definitely a Christmas scent. It's also very strong.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit;"><br />
</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit;">Manufacturer Description: The crisp, naturally fresh scent of gleaming, snow-covered pines with hints of patchouli and fruit. </span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit;"><br />

</span><br />
<b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit;">2. Winter Solstice by WoodWick Gallerie Collection</span></b><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit;"><br />
</span><br />

</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit;">First of all, what an adorable tin container! I really just bought for that reason at first, but I really liked the minty smell and the sound of the crackling fire once it started burning. </span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://distilleryimage2.instagram.com/a251c37219e811e19e4a12313813ffc0_7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://distilleryimage2.instagram.com/a251c37219e811e19e4a12313813ffc0_7.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">I was browsing through some ideas online of printing pictures and adding them to canvas using ModPodge, and at the same time, browsing through my Instagram. It then clicked, why not print my Instagrams pictures instead? The only problem was I didn't have any blank canvas laying around, especially one small enough for the 4x4 resolution Instagram pictures. But then I remembered I had tiles! I had bought them for a few cents at Home Depot to make some coasters using scrapbook paper, but had not yet found a scrapbook paper I really liked for coasters. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">So then I decided, how cool would it be to make coasters using my Instagram pictures??</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">I went to <a href="http://inkstagram.com/#/users/9169857/photos">Inkstagram </a>, which is a very cool website where you can access your Instagram from your computer. I then went to my feed and right clicked on the pictures I wanted to print for the coasters. I then copied them and pasted them into Photoshop. From there I printed the size I wanted (4.12in x 4.12in) which was the size of the tile. </div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvL2f-sfe31zIPw7528ARISbkjNMH1gXBDplzuuMW39sMxbRSJy4B6KqxdswtvqVnpsbTOnshacKW5iI4DDZ4KSo00ASJoEiQ99-LCtkZXxi-wgpj0bTsFsALT82GLMfSSMkMUGG13sO8/s1600/IMG_3425.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvL2f-sfe31zIPw7528ARISbkjNMH1gXBDplzuuMW39sMxbRSJy4B6KqxdswtvqVnpsbTOnshacKW5iI4DDZ4KSo00ASJoEiQ99-LCtkZXxi-wgpj0bTsFsALT82GLMfSSMkMUGG13sO8/s640/IMG_3425.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I then brushed ModPodge Matte onto the tile and carefully applied the picture on the tile, smoothing over any wrinkles. </div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWL306JIAcBghIWTUfUhV-SjpeV2d4faZ6wXhHUcTWpdlP5TPPOxQ5VdjUda5hyG2LGU8xJPxvAAwPmo4o2FqwCl3Xnrgj5namdIior5Ama54w8MhADD_o4tZd-bpI9fij7cuFcntu_UQ/s1600/IMG_3426.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWL306JIAcBghIWTUfUhV-SjpeV2d4faZ6wXhHUcTWpdlP5TPPOxQ5VdjUda5hyG2LGU8xJPxvAAwPmo4o2FqwCl3Xnrgj5namdIior5Ama54w8MhADD_o4tZd-bpI9fij7cuFcntu_UQ/s640/IMG_3426.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Once it completely dries, I applied another layer of ModPodge on top to seal it. Now, this is the first time I have done this, but I've read in other websites that it's best to add three coats of mod podge on top to really protect the picture. Once that was dry, I applied DuraClear Varnish on top.</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwBfUcAQf-Qs57arIW3FN66aWcfMo43ux3Cs5XsxKETJFG0odJFOWl7FYKEP5N2lTNf9eN8vvy6mGV0Em6lu-OosIqkwJ4_ac-YkmKqS1fIqVskGRo8BShiMh_zqJVHYYirDGSkdsvF7w/s1600/IMG_3427.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwBfUcAQf-Qs57arIW3FN66aWcfMo43ux3Cs5XsxKETJFG0odJFOWl7FYKEP5N2lTNf9eN8vvy6mGV0Em6lu-OosIqkwJ4_ac-YkmKqS1fIqVskGRo8BShiMh_zqJVHYYirDGSkdsvF7w/s640/IMG_3427.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Lastly, I put some Felt Pads on the bottom of the tiles to keep them from scratching any surfaces. </div><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiq9AcXkI6dDmKqv5QJmCiRB2nB0GGWO8z0gt5b4go0Q-6TPbOSBrhBgincrGXM2gE6b9PFoxiPRouU0YOgHiSnNUv-gN8kHXqWcJoqXloWOGdrKXo6wI_aV3osdjdTk1i3Lhe7JAhpmgM/s1600/IMG_3431.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiq9AcXkI6dDmKqv5QJmCiRB2nB0GGWO8z0gt5b4go0Q-6TPbOSBrhBgincrGXM2gE6b9PFoxiPRouU0YOgHiSnNUv-gN8kHXqWcJoqXloWOGdrKXo6wI_aV3osdjdTk1i3Lhe7JAhpmgM/s640/IMG_3431.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br />

I not only bought a few new things today, but I also worked on something old and made it new. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">I had gone to the <a href="http://www.brynathynthriftshop.org/">Bryn Athyn Thrift Shop</a> earlier this week and found a few interesting things, including the below basket for $3 and jars for $1.50 each. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDoq_3mWVxWtuyBEaJLQXDYxBPPfBB6bQiMZ84eTcf7pp2h2cHvLKCzzHv7oV2Gd9hxJmGhZlUSklBpTcwr2sMP5L24KHPtjwdHBolKLxIapMEjvCO9QVeMRgPQ67bRovgo7ADikyBHZk/s1600/IMG_3332.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDoq_3mWVxWtuyBEaJLQXDYxBPPfBB6bQiMZ84eTcf7pp2h2cHvLKCzzHv7oV2Gd9hxJmGhZlUSklBpTcwr2sMP5L24KHPtjwdHBolKLxIapMEjvCO9QVeMRgPQ67bRovgo7ADikyBHZk/s320/IMG_3332.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"> Not bad! I have plans for this, but not until after the Holidays. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Well, I also found this wall picture frame that had some hooks on it and missing others, for only $2.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_wSZnWTAOlYPeylItAq7yQAzBz2YYh-_mZdd1BVR80IernCgyNzSbLur1_mMoZWoDnKCdx7IO-I2f98foiy5gkYe9iZFGOuxN5iKOrcKcP46AserFViYJB4QFQPklW3e_UurwfZtlGJ8/s1600/IMG_3335.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_wSZnWTAOlYPeylItAq7yQAzBz2YYh-_mZdd1BVR80IernCgyNzSbLur1_mMoZWoDnKCdx7IO-I2f98foiy5gkYe9iZFGOuxN5iKOrcKcP46AserFViYJB4QFQPklW3e_UurwfZtlGJ8/s640/IMG_3335.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it when I saw it.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">The next day I stopped by Target and bought some knobs. That was definitely the priciest part, since it cost me about $30 for all the knobs ($14.50 for a pack with 4) , but definitely worth it. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">So today after Black Friday Shopping I decided to work on this little project to keep me awake. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><u>The Transformation Process</u></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">First, let me apologize for not taking pictures of the entire process, but I'll try to describe as well as possible. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">First, I covered the holes with wood filler, sanded them down (even though you are really supposed to wait 8 hours but I have no patience and the holes were really small) and wiped the dust off. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">I then added two coats of Valspar Semi-Gloss Turquoise Tint (no primer) that I already had at home. I should probably have added a primer first, but again, I was being lazy. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">After that I dried it with a blow drier (did I mention I'm really inpatient?) and after the paint was dry I sanded a few areas on the edges and brushed antique glaze on top to add the rustic feel. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">I then drilled new hole for the knobs, screwed the knobs in and added some pretty yellow decorative paper in the frames which goes with my Guest Room colors (yellow and blue).</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">And here's the result: </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><br />

</div><div style="text-align: center;">I've been wanting a desk for my crafts that would also be big enough for sewing. I found this big desk below at a Thrift Store and bought it for $10. It was kind of an eye sore and not at all inspiring but I had plans for it :)</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEilL3O_W3VkqmK7sMFlIin2DvsjmM5yPTlRE-nXY9N57Pc0nnB4jzonNu_E-An3naldAg2YEPfHLhdScqWAkyY0jrwf4fROjFgnTR38QADvfQSNUsYkDoN1eV-RWtfdWLVwIYTucN85Qs0/s1600/IMG_3303.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="422" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEilL3O_W3VkqmK7sMFlIin2DvsjmM5yPTlRE-nXY9N57Pc0nnB4jzonNu_E-An3naldAg2YEPfHLhdScqWAkyY0jrwf4fROjFgnTR38QADvfQSNUsYkDoN1eV-RWtfdWLVwIYTucN85Qs0/s640/IMG_3303.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">It had been siting in my guest/craft room for about a month and today I finally had the time to work on it.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">So I started with two coats of Primer. I usually don't sand because the Primer pretty much does the job. I used this one:</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEix9QXNIlu5_0J51JEetzNm3h248xRZrSW78RmSBWlVBh9q4Saz0aRoSuQqYt83-6uMsjLIToutYe-51SEJAjVf9kDmdM8zhd-_UTAULCI0gMQ6yvJLbYRRl2N5NjckQ0Ll6c9mbXVWhp4/s1600/IMG_3309.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEix9QXNIlu5_0J51JEetzNm3h248xRZrSW78RmSBWlVBh9q4Saz0aRoSuQqYt83-6uMsjLIToutYe-51SEJAjVf9kDmdM8zhd-_UTAULCI0gMQ6yvJLbYRRl2N5NjckQ0Ll6c9mbXVWhp4/s320/IMG_3309.jpg" width="213" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Here's the work in progress: </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjo2N7i_zramVqHGBpwHXo04HDRK00lj-J8x0WUmbs21VbDvE0fT8Z9Yr82xw9ZQXw9RtRciX6ObOHaPVHUbMT9BHMHV2QbEn_uPTBjLBT-to-CWkrutbm091rrH5sMfxUV50PNeAcyCG0/s1600/IMG_3311.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjo2N7i_zramVqHGBpwHXo04HDRK00lj-J8x0WUmbs21VbDvE0fT8Z9Yr82xw9ZQXw9RtRciX6ObOHaPVHUbMT9BHMHV2QbEn_uPTBjLBT-to-CWkrutbm091rrH5sMfxUV50PNeAcyCG0/s640/IMG_3311.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">As you can see, when you add the first coat of primer, it doesn't look good at all. But after the second coat you start getting an even color.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">After adding two coats of primer with a roller brush, I added one coat of white paint with a regular paint brush as well as painted the handles with <span class="Apple-style-span" style="background-color: white; font-family: inherit; line-height: 20px;">Aqua Pearl paint medium by Martha Stewart.</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="background-color: white; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px;"><br />
</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3DfkLgb8G5mYKUrBTBzQUj2tQTx3myqN3-GCE_MhlLsBJzNnL5UogAHgqkdSm_Zp9384bxQYF9lvujBAV6yCAtCtCWuSUSJcW4Lp2sudVJ3wQTNjgY-xvW-NB2DQUnqjdX_JOsU-8CRQ/s1600/IMG_3321.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3DfkLgb8G5mYKUrBTBzQUj2tQTx3myqN3-GCE_MhlLsBJzNnL5UogAHgqkdSm_Zp9384bxQYF9lvujBAV6yCAtCtCWuSUSJcW4Lp2sudVJ3wQTNjgY-xvW-NB2DQUnqjdX_JOsU-8CRQ/s400/IMG_3321.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I then applied a top coat to protect the finish and that's it! In less than 3 hours I got myself a pretty Inspiring craft table!! :)</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidpUvnuadP9AeBMx0myiu7A5lE9mpWUwqjWZAi7wshhhQvjoVve5dzMpsOYl-VGBFN89QOWt3uxl-LdEZUokYVVjN3efTBSK3j5jTV3suU4j8OMO6ycXVuKUMdKXonGqU1QwaNUiz8OOk/s1600/IMG_3323.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidpUvnuadP9AeBMx0myiu7A5lE9mpWUwqjWZAi7wshhhQvjoVve5dzMpsOYl-VGBFN89QOWt3uxl-LdEZUokYVVjN3efTBSK3j5jTV3suU4j8OMO6ycXVuKUMdKXonGqU1QwaNUiz8OOk/s400/IMG_3323.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div style="text-align: center;">Okay, so a lot of you have been requesting instructions on the Star Tree Topper. So this evening I sat down, and not only took lots of pictures of the process but also created new ready to print templates for you guys. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">So here you go.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcho8OJtm6CsA8xpjkte5CqtXpHUDJUanSSNim-Det_elHThuZctz0Jd4xR5B7vTx4jfz1DRK8E32dFI3pGbx9445y01_Z98fktrxh_VNU8O3PJZ0pRuJRLCF_pICObdZ-ssOmFwolm9o/s1600/Untitled-3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="393" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcho8OJtm6CsA8xpjkte5CqtXpHUDJUanSSNim-Det_elHThuZctz0Jd4xR5B7vTx4jfz1DRK8E32dFI3pGbx9445y01_Z98fktrxh_VNU8O3PJZ0pRuJRLCF_pICObdZ-ssOmFwolm9o/s400/Untitled-3.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"> Materials you will need: </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">- Cardstock Paper</div><div style="text-align: center;">- Hot glue gun</div><div style="text-align: center;">- Scissors </div><div style="text-align: center;">- Color Printer</div><div style="text-align: center;">- Glitter Spray (Optional)</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><b>Instructions: </b></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><b>Step 1</b> - Start by downloading the templates for the tips of your star. You can download the blank template if you want to add your own pattern on them using Photoshop or if you want to print in a decorative cardstock paper, or you can download the ready to print templates with patterns on them if you have a color printer.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">*** <a href="http://prettyandcozydownloadables.blogspot.com/2011_11_21_archive.html#6105971178244686084">Download templates here</a> ***</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><b>Step 2</b> - Print your templates on cardstock paper. You will need 5 of them for the tips of the star. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4k9ipusymoUl9txwDjTrocwg5tK-0GORbSb6Yh8yAPE0xAchllWGIzluxjP4t3BPSDv0iGdZin16t8F0yqX5v6YtBQUbzSsnJZyYarNXMPslauDTRYOQdE63SDyQyoLJ-Z2_rY8Qh7Ok/s1600/IMG_3200.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="425" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4k9ipusymoUl9txwDjTrocwg5tK-0GORbSb6Yh8yAPE0xAchllWGIzluxjP4t3BPSDv0iGdZin16t8F0yqX5v6YtBQUbzSsnJZyYarNXMPslauDTRYOQdE63SDyQyoLJ-Z2_rY8Qh7Ok/s640/IMG_3200.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><b>Step 4</b> - Glue the sides of the tips creating a cone shape. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVK8SyNOglBQR916n6OLGDvrPullLF1WN3GCdmfbggEJjDH3eU87F5YzpVThd81y8YRFSgrV0YNwKE8xqxGxXDDtxhoeuIR6w4o78gWHk_9K0O-42uwj1Ov-Zv7LkmDAGyXZ9cdJT7tU4/s1600/IMG_3212.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVK8SyNOglBQR916n6OLGDvrPullLF1WN3GCdmfbggEJjDH3eU87F5YzpVThd81y8YRFSgrV0YNwKE8xqxGxXDDtxhoeuIR6w4o78gWHk_9K0O-42uwj1Ov-Zv7LkmDAGyXZ9cdJT7tU4/s640/IMG_3212.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwLYL0P65mfdELdfW6ZeahKiL0qvzWFh3s60g6g-0-MUNUNhBFv1wUGmHKv_nDZe6_edb8X2gYGjP9fdPgx8qW8WxT6PbRNmRwtmFUaqUsuanFIZLv91urUU8C0616ABGPhWArx6BIN38/s1600/IMG_3219.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwLYL0P65mfdELdfW6ZeahKiL0qvzWFh3s60g6g-0-MUNUNhBFv1wUGmHKv_nDZe6_edb8X2gYGjP9fdPgx8qW8WxT6PbRNmRwtmFUaqUsuanFIZLv91urUU8C0616ABGPhWArx6BIN38/s400/IMG_3219.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">You will end up with 5 cones like these. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6YlE5BHSSH5dCiXBDypqkNvDBWzxzMWk194XATAwZf4w6TNCT_OkQUmvfM7QOlQMyuA4MYKzUb2G7fZjodQSGMiTmzER8IV7ifJ-PFxZzte46NMZWXMJi1MQGlEwfAnUS1_MVIQjegSs/s1600/IMG_3233.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6YlE5BHSSH5dCiXBDypqkNvDBWzxzMWk194XATAwZf4w6TNCT_OkQUmvfM7QOlQMyuA4MYKzUb2G7fZjodQSGMiTmzER8IV7ifJ-PFxZzte46NMZWXMJi1MQGlEwfAnUS1_MVIQjegSs/s640/IMG_3233.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><b><br />
</b></div><div style="text-align: center;"><b>Step 5</b> - This is the most tricky part. At the bottom of your cones, you will see the folded edges which you will need to attach to the edges of the other tip with the hot glue. You will glue the bottom right side of a tip to the bottom left side of the other. You will end up with something like this: </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZFO8VIIgUYh-rocZRlquMllg26nuinaH0Q33umA9i37pbXNbzzHbuhgT9tbQGTUGUkCrvgLWVJQrd5ad2OyBVMKmS0nr3jezhqTQqaoJM35IEHCvFIQCUkWo-BzdTI38HN9GNJXA9jkY/s1600/IMG_3236.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZFO8VIIgUYh-rocZRlquMllg26nuinaH0Q33umA9i37pbXNbzzHbuhgT9tbQGTUGUkCrvgLWVJQrd5ad2OyBVMKmS0nr3jezhqTQqaoJM35IEHCvFIQCUkWo-BzdTI38HN9GNJXA9jkY/s640/IMG_3236.JPG" width="426" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdEbWd8QHJVGmzHuV6AZLK9U_h_f0NwPQc1eAZgiOpdT0tpjufodNzZhHrJJO15yKVEJB8FMmPtiSQktKaxgj4zAjHLl0DTM0KKaFtVYID_w5tCWszo8K-d27aX1-WcnKUfXat8WWj9PM/s1600/IMG_3238.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdEbWd8QHJVGmzHuV6AZLK9U_h_f0NwPQc1eAZgiOpdT0tpjufodNzZhHrJJO15yKVEJB8FMmPtiSQktKaxgj4zAjHLl0DTM0KKaFtVYID_w5tCWszo8K-d27aX1-WcnKUfXat8WWj9PM/s640/IMG_3238.JPG" width="426" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Do the same with all of them until you have all 5 tips glued together. You can leave a hole at the bottom where you will attach to the tree, by not glueing the sides together (like the one in the picture below). But if you want a closed star, just press the middle down to flatten the star a bit, so that the bottom sides meet and you can glue them to each other. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixa1K0cYnaFmIcbMQFbBmQSbIVMwMWCaEAa60Cc4yOQWfrEiEBp89uRElJ-sQCHRl0XorxVrI03DdbqM2p8M3GQ4JnyDlWlnpEw-rtC_UNwu5B4WUF5SUiPLKANcLaR4H7EJB1GGbWNQ4/s1600/IMG_3242.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixa1K0cYnaFmIcbMQFbBmQSbIVMwMWCaEAa60Cc4yOQWfrEiEBp89uRElJ-sQCHRl0XorxVrI03DdbqM2p8M3GQ4JnyDlWlnpEw-rtC_UNwu5B4WUF5SUiPLKANcLaR4H7EJB1GGbWNQ4/s640/IMG_3242.JPG" width="640" /></a><br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">And that is it!! You are done making your star!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">I added some Glitter Spray to mine to make it shiny. You can also poke holes in them and add lights inside. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm7.staticflickr.com/6219/6380242531_6326815bf6_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://farm7.staticflickr.com/6219/6380242531_6326815bf6_b.jpg" width="411" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

And I don't know how I was living my life before that without it. You can pretty much turn anything from plain to beautiful with Mod Podge. Well, I decided to make over my knife block set. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">It went from plain:<a href="http://target.scene7.com/is/image/Target/10936899_is?wid=618&hei=618" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://target.scene7.com/is/image/Target/10936899_is?wid=618&hei=618" width="640" /></a></div><div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">To Pretty: </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6119/6267806518_eff5be9ede_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: left;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6119/6267806518_eff5be9ede_z.jpg" width="425" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">And it really only took me about 1 and a half hours.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I actually got the idea of making over my knife block set from Pinterest. I had seen someone there who had painted theirs green. But I had a different idea. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Here's what I used:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">- Mod Podge in Gloss</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">- Decorative Paper </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">- A paint brush</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">- Scissors</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">- Utility knife or stencil knife</div><div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6040/6267800990_26676fee0e_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6040/6267800990_26676fee0e_z.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">So this was pretty straight forward. Mod Podge went on first with a brush. Then I pasted the paper, smoothing over and cutting the excess with the knife. Then I brushed Mod Podge over it to seal the paper on the wood. </div><div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6159/6267802670_85c99914c5_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6159/6267802670_85c99914c5_z.jpg" width="426" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">As you can see, depending on the shape of your knife holder, you might need to work with some tricky areas. But just be patient and do them in sections. After you brush the Mod Podge on the paper, it will look seamless. </div><div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6156/6267277691_0a93b60b25_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6156/6267277691_0a93b60b25_z.jpg" width="426" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Then I just felt for the openings through the paper with my fingers and stuck the knifes in them :)</div><div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">And there you have it, a fun looking knife block set!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6107/6267808828_8b02c3e5c4_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6107/6267808828_8b02c3e5c4_z.jpg" width="402" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div style="text-align: center;">As some of you know already I live in an apartment and the problem of apartment living is lack of space. This is one of the reasons I don't do as many furniture make overs as I wish I could, simply because I have almost no room left for more furniture in my apartment, nor the place to work on them. However, I keep on seeing furnitures and objects at the consignment store my husband works at (<a href="http://impactthrift.org/">Impact Thrift</a>) that I wish I could bring home. So instead of bringing them home, I decided to at least take pictures of them and share these gems with you guys so that maybe someone who lives close by might find a home for them :) </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">So here are this week's finds: </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><b>Green Hutch</b></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6161/6263889127_9643b9dfe6_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6161/6263889127_9643b9dfe6_z.jpg" width="426" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I'm not sure how I feel about this hutch. I feel like it has a lot of potential and something about it is so adorable, but at the same time, these black tiles just don't go with that green paint. If I were to buy it, I'd probably paint the wood part white, leave the current green and change the tiles. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><b>Adorable TV Stand</b></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6055/6263890787_a73b7e5fd8_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6055/6263890787_a73b7e5fd8_z.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6179/6264418478_174a0d9292_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6179/6264418478_174a0d9292_z.jpg" width="426" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">This stand does not need any make over! It's SO adorable! I fell in love as soon as I saw it! There are keys that come with it so you can open the glass doors too. I really want it but I'm not sure where I would put it in my apartment. This is the only thing I'm currently contemplating bringing home.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><b>Vintage Headboard</b></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6167/6263892451_db672821a2_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6167/6263892451_db672821a2_z.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6031/6263893153_6e26421de5_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6031/6263893153_6e26421de5_z.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">My husband said this headboard was appraised and could be from as early as the 1920's. I love the vintage look! Now the creepy old lady on the emblem? Not so crazy about her, but hey, adds characteristic. I still think it looks very charming and elegant though.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><b>Mosaic Lantern</b></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6153/6264420652_e2daaeb991.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6153/6264420652_e2daaeb991.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Love the look, especially on a porch or garden. I'd probably spray paint the metal piece white though.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><b>Cute Piano Bench</b></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6238/6264421758_07ea3f2b28_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6238/6264421758_07ea3f2b28_z.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">This guy could use a new paint color and new fabric, but it's only 10 bucks!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Vintage Lamp</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6176/6264424772_9aba02f4a6_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6176/6264424772_9aba02f4a6_z.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Love the look of this lamp with the fringes and the old books. So "Withering Heights" :)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><b>Comfy Pretty Chair</b></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6219/6263898517_c972d12a00_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6219/6263898517_c972d12a00_z.jpg" width="426" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">This too wouldn't even need a make over. Maybe just some cleaning. It looks very nice the way it is right now. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">So anyway, these are some of my finds this week. It's amazing how many beautiful things you can find at consignment shops, not only this one. Especially if you are into vintage style. But even if you are not, they have some newer looking stuff too, like this bedroom set: </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6238/6263897847_e603c469e7_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6238/6263897847_e603c469e7_z.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">So this was my window shopping for this week. These were all there yesterday so if you live nearby you might be able to grab one of them. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I just can't wait until I have a house and lots of room for furniture make over! :)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">xoxo</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgf3PCzwcSPUFeOymHrB7-eun8cKJQdSnND_pumRQguimppBOSxpBcyOg7414DXDqMgEI7WjjMUjLQk0qAEMoL_00oreTb7hnZloB8Ft1iC42I00_3y8QRK9h7-Lxq1SJthgv-yn2RWy2w/s1600/Top.jpg"><img border="0" height="91" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgf3PCzwcSPUFeOymHrB7-eun8cKJQdSnND_pumRQguimppBOSxpBcyOg7414DXDqMgEI7WjjMUjLQk0qAEMoL_00oreTb7hnZloB8Ft1iC42I00_3y8QRK9h7-Lxq1SJthgv-yn2RWy2w/s200/Top.jpg" width="200" /></a></div><div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">**Update: I bought the pretty TV stand!! Yay!!**</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-299166642877674497.post-31318856531635892312011-10-14T10:23:00.000-07:002011-10-20T13:56:38.528-07:00TIME FOR A MAKE OVER<div style="text-align: center;">So a couple of weeks ago I had told you about a handmade <a href="http://prettyandcozy.blogspot.com/2011/09/clock-and-cameos.html">grandfather's clock</a> that I had bought at my husband's thrift store for less than 5 bucks. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Yesterday I finally decided to do something with it and I think I'm pretty happy with the results. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Here's the before picture of the clock, with the tags still on:</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyT6UQS2n-d-aMmbgx4Dc2gicgWD2h0dTe5PMYJUMVmRYYYJrl1aqz3tckJNtw5IDIBFEPcLK0ZWajcVmCedAW0IycfR_By4EbJ_kQggJomIMZxMA1xXOpVEP54OXUZs7_8l0IVe8SRvA/s1600/before.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyT6UQS2n-d-aMmbgx4Dc2gicgWD2h0dTe5PMYJUMVmRYYYJrl1aqz3tckJNtw5IDIBFEPcLK0ZWajcVmCedAW0IycfR_By4EbJ_kQggJomIMZxMA1xXOpVEP54OXUZs7_8l0IVe8SRvA/s640/before.jpg" width="364" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">And here is the after...Ta-da!! </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9JcJtL_0i9SUSPSAvtJ5eXwHxP9J3Yq3IgiSmfqGXUI7nP5Auw0j-W4K78Gc6HC7DHNzHLSSHIZAd0S4IQIPShOJAD7CLtWc3naFMBnaM3CU7Nl8No1tBcHi4m-lP1A8ki7pOcQHPNI0/s1600/Untitled-8.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9JcJtL_0i9SUSPSAvtJ5eXwHxP9J3Yq3IgiSmfqGXUI7nP5Auw0j-W4K78Gc6HC7DHNzHLSSHIZAd0S4IQIPShOJAD7CLtWc3naFMBnaM3CU7Nl8No1tBcHi4m-lP1A8ki7pOcQHPNI0/s640/Untitled-8.jpg" width="345" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">I had to photoshop a pretty wallpaper on the background since my apartment doesn't really have a wall big enough and pretty enough to "showcase" my creation ;)</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Here is a close-up: </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkGcBKvxUyBkd1buUCZ3bJ6aJbgECXmUInIfj7i1OJQPLVQy5mUq42TftkqeG2f2FbDgxbdj4pxsxqW8Bu97QzIgrqIcRptFIJJTI5CDfqYDR7xNFu3sob2V-emmPmmkAWS21GbLnkDs0/s1600/IMG_2024.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkGcBKvxUyBkd1buUCZ3bJ6aJbgECXmUInIfj7i1OJQPLVQy5mUq42TftkqeG2f2FbDgxbdj4pxsxqW8Bu97QzIgrqIcRptFIJJTI5CDfqYDR7xNFu3sob2V-emmPmmkAWS21GbLnkDs0/s640/IMG_2024.JPG" width="425" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">It took me one bottle of sample paint by Martha Stewart, a paint brush, a sand paper, printed patterns and Mod Podge to make this happen. Not bad for less than 10 bucks, huh? I think it would look great in a Nursery or children's room. The inside of the bottom cabinet actually had children's drawings in it :)</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Now, if you will excuse me, I have to go clean up all the mess this makeover left behind!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">xoxo</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div style="text-align: center;">Thanks to an old bookshelf I was about to throw away, I now have all my crafts organized!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">I saw potential on it and decided to use the leftover paint I had used on my <a href="http://prettyandcozy.blogspot.com/2011/09/hutch-makeover.html">hutch makeover. </a>I primed it, painted it and added a background with contact paper. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">It went from plain and boring....</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6214/6228037619_d4d65266b4_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6214/6228037619_d4d65266b4_z.jpg" width="340" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">To pretty and functional:</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6093/6228549762_a8cddb1b89_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6093/6228549762_a8cddb1b89_z.jpg" width="444" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">I used a contact paper I bought at Target on the background, which cost about $5. The white boxes and glass jars were purchased at ACMoore Crafts and total for them was about $20. The frame was something I had laying around. I painted it white and printed that "Keep Calm" picture from my computer. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">So the total cost for this project was $25 and I'm pretty happy with it!! SO much for an old bookshelf :)</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Now I finally have a nice, organized area where I can "keep calm and get my craft on". </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6151/6228552060_cd5a67f761_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="434" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6151/6228552060_cd5a67f761_b.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div></div><div style="text-align: center;">Today I decided to do something relaxing and fun.. I was looking through my <a href="http://pinterest.com/nobrechick/diy/">Pinterest</a> (since I have quite a few projects there I want to work on) when I decided to do the DIY paper roses <a href="http://dozidesign.blogspot.com/2008/05/paper-flower-tutorial.html">tutorial</a> from <a href="http://dozidesign.blogspot.com/">Dozi</a>. I would have never thought it was so easy and simple, but all you have to do is cut a spiral, on a piece of paper, fold it and voila, there's your rose! It's hard to find an Iphone case nowadays that are not too sparkly or plain boring. I wanted something stylish, not tacky. I just wish they had more of a variety. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

Tired of the same old unexciting look of shelves? Well, if you are an UK resident, you should consider yourself lucky because you can find these charming, baroque shelves at <a href="http://www.grahamandgreen.co.uk/baroque-bookshelves-1832">Graham and Green</a>, an UK based online store. You can use them individually or in a sent. You can use them as bookshelves, display shelves or just empty. Bottom line is, they add grand personality to any wall. I would really love to be able to buy them. Unfortunately, they do not deliver internationally. I guess I will have to start looking for something like these in my own land.</div></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0pt;"><br />

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit;">I literally stumbled upon this article at <a href="http://sharonadesign.com/tiny-victorian-cottage/">Sharona Design</a> website, about a tiny cottage designed by <span class="Apple-style-span" style="background-color: white; line-height: 18px;">Sandra Foster. Any little girl (or grown woman) looking at these pictures would dream of having something like it as their tree house. Isn't that just the little house of your dreams?</span></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

I know I probably said this before, but I consider myself very lucky for having a husband who works at a Thrift Store. I can't count how many times I've seen furniture at his store I wanted to re-purpose, but unfortunately, at least for now, I can't buy every single one due to the sheer fact I would not have a place where to store them. I keep telling myself, once we buy a house that has a garage, that will be my storage/DIY space. I just can't wait. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Anyway, back to my findings of the week. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6162/6191629945_816bf07687.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6162/6191629945_816bf07687.jpg" width="394" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">I found this clock that looks somewhat handmade. But something about it screams "PICK ME! SAVE ME!". I didn't buy it the first say I saw it, but I told myself if I went there and it was still at the store, I would get it, if of course was reasonably priced. Turns out I went back and there it was, sitting at the corner all sad and left out. And the best of all, it was just priced at $5. I bought instantly and asked by hubby to load it in our SUV. Now it still in my living room, waiting for its makeover. I still haven't decided what I'm going to do with it thought. I definitely have plans to give it some attention sometime in October :)</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">My second find were these very cute Cameos. I don't know why but all of a sudden I started with this Cameo obsession. I'm starting a collections. They are not real, but still adorable! I found them also at by husband's store. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjY3dO7Gw2g-Sa7DXKiZm-etXXo3QT_XpmRe7PNeOPFqz6lvf2Sapfavu8HBBsTog_Sv9XCOIA-ndkmOURHqpDfaxjkAXSEDlhlYz0uwRk99J92nT2s6OoY1vKN-Agaec9Q6byTd1aZRoE/s1600/IMG_15662.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjY3dO7Gw2g-Sa7DXKiZm-etXXo3QT_XpmRe7PNeOPFqz6lvf2Sapfavu8HBBsTog_Sv9XCOIA-ndkmOURHqpDfaxjkAXSEDlhlYz0uwRk99J92nT2s6OoY1vKN-Agaec9Q6byTd1aZRoE/s640/IMG_15662.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">I'm definitely going to be adding pictures of these to my <a href="http://instagr.am/p/NAvY4/">Instagram</a> account. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

I love the look of embossed paper, and I found a very cool tutorial on how to do it yourself at <a href="http://www.foodwineandmodpodge.com/">Food Wine and Mod Page</a>. </div><div style="text-align: center;">Here's the before:</div><br />
